OpenObserve, the Rust-built unified observability platform, surpassed 20,000 GitHub stars on July 15, 2026. The project consolidates logs, metrics, traces, frontend monitoring, and LLM observability into a single deployable binary or Helm chart, storing telemetry in columnar format on low-cost object storage — which the company says brings storage costs up to 140x lower than Elasticsearch.
The platform is OpenTelemetry-native, queryable with both SQL and PromQL, and says it now processes petabyte-scale data daily for more than 8,000 organizations. OpenObserve is based in Menlo Park, California, founded and led by CEO Prabhat Sharma, and backed by Nexus Venture Partners and Dell Technologies Capital.
Worth a look for any team currently budgeting for an Elastic Stack renewal, or self-hosting Loki/Prometheus/Tempo separately and looking to consolidate.
